This landmark initiative reimagines critical climate solutions as interconnected, scalable innovations rooted in the complex dynamics of the Global South region and its economies.
MCW is dedicated to harnessing the dynamic energy of Mumbai and the broader Indian ecosystem to drive impactful climate action focused on local and Global South scale. By mobilizing India’s vibrant network of climate-focused organizations & movements, it highlights the nation’s already pioneering efforts in active and result oriented climate action and also chart out the next course of action. Being held in Mumbai, a beacon of climate leadership, it amplifies India’s role as a powerful voice for climate action across the Global South.
Led by Project Mumbai, a citizen-driven, non-profit founded in 2018, in partnership with Government of Maharashtra’s Department of Environment and Climate Change, and supported by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. MCW catalyzes collaboration among government, corporate, and civil society stakeholders to develop actionable climate strategies. These strategies are evaluated through the lenses of Justice, Innovation, and Funding, championing climate adaptation and resilience alongside mitigation practices.
MCW adopts a hub-and-spoke model to unite diverse stakeholders in collaborative climate action. This dynamic platform brings together governments, civil society, businesses, and citizens to address the Global South’s urgent climate challenges through an inclusive and collaborative approach. Leading up to the main event at Jio World Convention Centre, MCW hosts a vibrant array of initiatives, including sustainability hackathons, masterclasses, climate-conscious food and cultural festivals, citizen-led projects, and community showcases.
